Did you miss me last Friday? Because I certainly missed you. Due to a technological snafu, my love note did not make it into your inboxes, assuming you have a Gmail account. It’s not 100% clear why, but I was recently spammed with some fake email addresses, and Gmail didn’t like that much. So I got the pleasure of deleting all the fake people in my life. And you, my dumplings, are the true, real people left.

Hello my favorites,

Did you miss me last Friday? Because I certainly missed you. Due to a technological snafu, my love note did not make it into your inboxes, assuming you have a Gmail account. It’s not 100% clear why, but I was recently spammed with some fake email addresses, and Gmail didn’t like that much. So I got the pleasure of deleting all the fake people in my life. And you, my dumplings, are the true, real people left.

Coincidentally, I’ve been spending a lot of time with a friend talking about the truth. Asking questions like, “what it even is truth?” and “how we can find it?” I’m always stymied by the fact that there are usually many truths around any situation. Two people can witness the same event and have two opposite stories of what happened. Two doctors will give two separate diagnoses, and both can be right. A person can guess what’s going on inside of me, but only I can really take a look, and there’s a pretty good chance that I’m going to miss something when I do look.

So what even is capital-T-truth? In a world where truth is often obscured, is there a point to keep looking?

Let me tell you my simple Truths. I love my family and my friends. I’m often a little late and a bit overwhelmed. I care about being a good person. I don’t want to spend a day without music. These simple truths are undeniable. They’re the exception that proves the rule.

I’m still in love with my baby sisters, or my sisters as babies, if that’s even possible.

It’s the complex Truths that elude me. The answer to whether I truly am living my values. Or whether I’m being honest in a relationship with a friend. Or why I get anxious when I see a dirty sink. If the Truth actually exists, I’m not getting to it without a visit from my friend, curiosity. Throw in a bit of wonder for good measure. Oh, and some non-attachment. A little easier said than done.

Maybe we can never find the Truth (channel your inner Jack Nicholson, because it can be scary!). If the Truth even exists. But, I can’t stop looking. It’s too interesting, too important, in my opinion, to be as honest as possible. Seriously, I’m curious to know what you think.

Love always,

Lauren
