It’s eclipse season, baby, and I am feeling it!! I know I’m not alone. Good news, I’m not here to give you an astrology lesson, or astronomy lesson, or any sort of science, or lesson. No, I am not, I am not, Elizabeth Zott.

Good morning, sunshine!

It’s eclipse season, baby, and I am feeling it!! I know I’m not alone.  Good news, I’m not here to give you an astrology lesson, or astronomy lesson, or any sort of science, or lesson.  No, I am not, I am not, Elizabeth Zott

However, I do know about intuition, creativity and digging holes.  Unfortunately sometimes those three talents all go hand in hand.  The third talent, digging, includes both the helpful kind of digging, and the unhelpful - I’m confused, and somehow I’m knee deep in a vat of quicksand, and the digging only makes it worse type of digging. (Total nonsequitor:  quicksand isn’t really real! I learned that this week.)

So this week, I’ve had all of it.  The intuitive hit to reach out to a friend.  Somehow writing a song with these two very talented people, Danny and Sal, in about 90 minutes on Saturday, and then spending 6 hours creating very random but ultimately perfect lyrics, imho, before recording the track on Monday.  And then, having the joy of listening to the song on repeat at least 35 times after.  Of going to bed, exhausted, and waking up feeling like I ran a marathon in my sleep for no apparent reason.  Deadlines missed, and others made.  Deep conversations with friends.  Traffic.  You know.  The whole spectrum of light to dark and back again.

Apparently fishing in the dark is also possible!

And here, in the actual eclipse season, this contrast becomes even more real.  Daytime becomes dark, even if only for a minute or two.  As it should be.

So who wants to go dig some holes with me?  It may not be fun the whole time, and it definitely won’t be pretty, but we might find a little treasure?

Love always,

Lauren

PS.  Today’s subject line is in reference to a beautiful new TV show on Apple TV called The New Look, about Paris and fashion after World War II.  Woah! It’s so inspiring.

PPS.  TOMORROW!  (It should have been today but someone got confused by the calendar.  Someone = me.) Daisy La Fontaine is bringing you another new track, called Got the Same….ooh baby it’s a fun one!  I think it’s pretty perfect that in writing this email about light and darkness, I realize I made a mistake like this one! Lovely!

THANKS FOR READING!
